Country Music Fans Day Trip

Well pardner you're headin' to Nashville and you need to fill a day right? We've got a well rounded schedule that will entertain you.
When picking accommodations, you'll have to decide whether to stay downtown or in the world famous Opryland Hotel. The only downside to the
Opryland Hotel is the fact that it's several miles outside the downtown area. The hotel is extremely impressive though and it may be worth the slight inconvenience.

If you prefer to stay downtown, Courtyard By Marriott is a solid choice and is centrally located. On the higher end in the downtown area is the Hermitage Hotel. If these hotels are outside your budget, do a search for hotels in the downtown area here.

You should rent a car to get around the city. Cabs are expensive in Nashville.

It's important to get a jump on the day and get out of the hotel by 8:00. If it's Saturday or Sunday, grab a quick bite of breakfast at the hotel and drive down to the Farmers Market. It's time for the NashTrash tour. During the summer months it starts at 9:00am. Go to this early one to beat the heat. It's a very entertaining look at Nashville and it lasts about 90 minutes. You must have reservations. This tour will put you in the right mood for the rest of your day.

After the tour, head over to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It opens at 10am. By the time you finish at the Hall of Fame, it'll be time for a good lunch.

Go to the Wildhorse Saloon. This will give you the opportunity to check out Second Avenue and Broadway as well. There are souvenir shops and music venues throughout the downtown area. Stop in any that peak your curiosity. Most of the Honky Tonk bars have no cover charge.

You might be tired at this point. Head back to the hotel and rest your dogs.

When you feel that second wind, get up and go to Opry Mills for world-class shopping. The place is huge. You can buy everything from a bass boat to skivvies. It also has an IMAX theater. You're going to the Grand Ole Opry tonight so stop shopping in time for dinner. If it's Friday, the Opry usually plays at 7:30, so you'll need to grab dinner at 5:30 or 6:00. If it's Saturday, you should probably go to the 9:30 show and grab dinner at 7:30 or 8:00.

If you still need to get out and dance, head back to Broadway between 3rd and 4th Avenue. Go to Tootsies or Roberts Western Wear for some good old fashioned country swing. You won't regret it!
